The green car in the Shinkansen has fewer seats in each row,
4 seats (2 seats + 2 seats) compared to 5 seats (2 seats + 3 seats) in an ordinary car.
The table and armrests are large and roomy, making it easy and comfortable to eat and drink.
The seats recline further than that of an ordinary car, making it easier to sleep.

Quiet and less shaking inside the train

The Shinkansen’s green train have more soundproofed seats than the ordinary car. Because of the soundproof seats, you will have a more quiet experience than an ordinary car.
The floors are also carpeted.
The noise is reduced when walking or when dropping something on the floor.

Escalator is close by

Most stations on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines have escalators and elevators
located near the center of the platform for smooth boarding and alighting.
Upon arrival, there is less stress of wading through the crowds and moving forward.

The Green car tends to be less crowded than ordinary car .
Fewer passengers means a quieter and more relaxing ride.

When boarding the “Hikari” train on the Tokaido Shinkansen, oshibori (hand towels) are distributed.
